About ARROGANT DEVIL

Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.
When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.
My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.
Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.
Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.
Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.
Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.
Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.

Review

Arrogant Devil is the perfect read for you. It'll put you through all the emotions and you will not want to put it down. From the insane chemistry between Meredith and Jack, to the anger you'll feel for Meredith about what her sister and consequently Jack think about her. It definitely pissed me off a couple of times.

Jack was really the definition of Arrogant Devil. Everyone in town ran away from him. The only things he cared about was the ranch, his dog Alfred and his grandmother Edith, the rest he could care less about.  He was a d*ck most of the time.
Jack had lost both his parents in a car accident while he was in college and that had changed him fundamentally. He had hardened his heart and never let anyone in.
He had inherited the Blue Stone Ranch, in which he has been working since he graduated from college, and the other Blue Stone businesses in Cedar Creek. He is very hardworking and a sexy hot 'cowboy' that will make you blood boil from time to time with his asshole attitude.

I’ve forgotten my agenda, my name, the year. The president? What’s a president? He stops what he’s doing and turns to look at me. The profile—which was already killing me—changes to the full-frontal view, and I’m hit with the realization that I was married to Andrew for five years and never once felt weak in the knees like I do now, but that can’t be right. Maybe I’m just exhausted from my walk—all four minutes of it.

He was currently in a bit of a pickle due to his secretary, Meredith's sister Helen, being on vacation and also having had his housekeeper quit recently. So when Helen calls about her sister being on the way to Texas and in need of a job, despite everything else Helen tells him about her, when Meredith shows up he offers her a job - to be his housekeeper, hoping that she being the princess she is would either say no, or quit after the first day. But that's not who she is, at all.

“Total avoidance is working out pretty well,” I quip. “I’ll just continue that forever.” “Forever, huh? Strong words for someone on their second day.” I try not to smile. “That’s how long I plan to stay—either that or until we’re so sick of each other that you fire me.” “That’s how you think this is gonna end?” Now we’re both fighting smiles. “I won’t be quitting, if that’s what you’re getting at.” He rubs the back of his neck as he turns for the back door. “We’ll see.”

Meredith is a strong women who has been kept silent for a long time about the truth of her life, and now has finally set herself free from what was diminishing her fiery personality. She comes to Blue Stone Ranch praying for a new start, to find help to start over a new leaf. Instead she comes in contact with the Arrogant Devil himself, who doubts her intentions, thinks she's just a spoiled princess who will leave after a couple days and go back to her rich hubby...A sexy as sin man who fights her every inch of the way and is happy to make her life hell. But Jack's asshole attitude only makes Meredith's attitude more resilient, she wants to prove him wrong and more importantly, she wants to be the best employee Jack McKnight has ever had because she can't lose this job. She has nowhere else to go.

Meredith soon wins over the whole town of Cedar Creek and finds a true friend in Edith, who is the first one to help her and, to understand how much she needs this new job and what she's obviously running from. She also helps Meredith understand Jack a little better but that in no way makes him less an asshole. He is too blinded by what Helen told him about her sister and what her life was like to see the real Meredith, to see that's she nothing like a spoiled princess. He fights her, not wanting to believe that she'll stay, not wanting to let her in only to watch her leave soon after.

He hoists me higher and I’m reminded that I’m still wrapped around him like an anaconda. Damn. This is hot, but it’s not right. When I imagined having sex with him on this twin bed, I was fully sober and on top, riding him like…well, a cowgirl. “I didn’t think this was how tonight would end,” I whisper against his cheek. “I think you’re really handsome, like so so so bangin’ sexy, don’t get me wrong, but I’m pretty drunk and sleepy.” I’m pawing at his chest. I’m running my hands along his strong jaw, feeling it for the first time. It’s magnificent. He is magnificent. “Meredith, I said I’m putting you to bed, not taking you to bed.” “Oh, I see, Mr. Verb Man, got different verbs for all occasions.

These two seem like oil and water, like they just won't mix. In truth, their fiery banter is fueled by the huge chemistry they share, it slowly burns and burns for most part of the book, until their attraction starts to boil and neither of them can lie to themselves anymore. And once Jack learns the truth about why Meredith ran away, there is no chance on holding back anymore. It's then you see Jack's good heart and the gentleman in him because then he is anything but the arrogant devil with Meredith, he is her very prince charming.

“Well yeah, because I find you…”—she waves her hand up and down my body and then clears her throat—“very good-looking.” “Uh-huh.” “And we’re both available.” “I’m aware.” “And I think we should kiss.” Gulp. “And break lamps.” Her euphemism makes me smile, but then reality catches up with me. “Believe me, I want to break thousands of lamps with you, but you just got out of a bad relationship.” “Right. So did you.” “I don’t want to take advantage of you.” “Noble, but unnecessary.”

Arrogant Devil was a witty, romantic and just delightful read. It had the usual R. S. Grey flair and it also had a little bit of angst which is that is the perfect combo for me. I loved this book and these characters. Already cannot wait for the next one!
